IO YAMADA

The exceptional musical quality of the young Japanese classical guitarist, IO YAMADA has been proven by over twenty prominent international awards, including the first prize in the 55th Concorso di Chitarra Classica “Michele Pittaluga”.

Io was born in 1995 in Osaka (Japan). From the age of 2, he began to play the guitar with his father Naoki Yamada, and then he studied also Keigo Fujii, Tsuneo Ema, Kiyoshi Shomura and Gentaro Takada. After finishing his studies in Japan, Io was accepted to the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (MDW) in the class of Prof. Alvaro Pierri and since 2020 he has been studying at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar with Ricardo Gallen and Thomas Müller-Pering.

Io has given numerous recitals in prestigious venues of Europe and Japan and his interpretation is highly appreciated for expressiveness , vitality in music, and color of sounds. In 2018 & 2024, he received the scholarship from the Rohm Music Foundation, which is renowned for granting the largest amount of grant in Japan. His Debut-CD “1.0 (one)“ (Sylphide Records, 2018) was awarded ”special choice Disc” in Record-Geijutsu Magazine.
